(barium chloride dihydrate, barium dichloride dihydrate) [BaCl2•2H2O] White granular material.
Used as a green coloring agent, also makes a relatively safe coloring agent for campfires, pine cones, and fireplace logs.

Although they are not interchangeable with barium chloride, other green coloring agents are the oxidizers--barium nitrate and barium chlorate--as well as barium carbonate. Boric acid is used in some liquid fire formulas.
