[Ba(NO₃)₂] Sugary white crystals.

Sold by the pound. Most commonly used oxidizer in producing green colors; also used as an oxidizer in flash powders. Should be milled to a fine powder before most uses.

Although they are not interchangeable with barium nitrate, other green coloring agents are the oxidizer barium chlorate and the salt--barium chloride. Boric acid is used in some liquid fire formulas.
