Lead nitrate is an oxidizer used in making slow match (see Kentish), "plumbic powder" for a silver rain (see Pyrotechnica IV), and in the manufacture of explosives (Davis). Sparks from iron, steel, and brass are said to be more brilliant when used with lead nitrate instead of potassium nitrate mixtures.
